Weird, "nervous" behavior of Software 3.20.1 dash box

Asked by Alberto

Hello Techies,
my Software 3.20.1 app my OS came with behaves in a strange way.
If I type in the dash box I get no letter at all: it appears and soon disappears.
Or, if I keep on typing, a double letter appears. E.g.: I type ubuntu and I get uubbuunnttuu.
The backspace key works double time, too. I press once and get two or more backspaces,

In all the other apps everything goes fine, no problems at all.

Tried and restarted the app, it keeps on with double, nervous typing or appearing and soon disappearing.
Tried and restarted the system, as above...

Any idea?
Many thanks
Alberto

Xubuntu 16.04 LTS 32 bit from a 0 errors Live session.

What application has the double input please? I'm not able to discern it from your question.

Thanks

Hello Andrew,
the application that has double input is:
Software 3.20.1 (the dash box)

It came with the OS my machine runs, Xubuntu 16.04 LTS, installed from a zero errors Live session.

Thank you

Hello Andrew,
I guess whether removing it could be a correct idea. And then installing it again, using Ubuntu Software Center 15.12.
Otherwise I wouldn't know what to do...
Can you tell me what you think about it?
Thanks

Hello Andrew,
I've made a test.
I've launched a Live session (Xubuntu 16.04 LTS) and have tried to type in the dash box. Everything was ok, no problem at all, it works properly...

Regards

You might consider a new installation of Ubuntu. Maybe that solves all your problems.

Hello Manfred,
I agree, I've been thinking about it since long time ago. I'm sad, though.
Thanks
