very small grub 2.02 FONTS

Asked by clombard

Just loaded 16.04 on a high resolution computer.
The Grub 2.02 boot menu appears fine but it is almost impossible to read.
The fonts are very small.
Is there an easy way for a novice to make the grub menu fonts a bit Larger...?
I tried customizer but couldn't find a way to increase Font size.
thanks

Below output of "update-grub".
Also I Do not see an option in grub console to "Save"
sudo update-grub produces error.
I have grub customizer installed...could that be causing a problem...?

What is the output of:

cat -n /etc/default/grub

You have removed a quote and it's causing an issue. You don't need a "GRUB customiser". It's a single line of configuration to edit. Not tricky....

Run:

sudo gedit /etc/default/grub

Change:
GRUB_GFXMODE="1920x1080""

To:
GRUB_GFXMODE="1920x1080"

Save the new file, close gedit and run:
sudo update-grub

Reboot to test.

Again, it's not a complex file. You just need to read your own output and take action. You added an extra quote and the system was telling you....

Actually, change it to:
GRUB_GFXMODE="1024x768"
