complete standstill(crash of system)after a few hours of use cannot restart PC normal way

Feisty 7.10 ubuntu (athlon64)i686arch-stops after a few hours for no apparent reason? Must re-boot in safe mode sometimes but problem still continues? I have Kubuntu feisty7.10 also installed on a laptop(new hard disk)-no problems there

Probably an overheating issue. There is a setting in the BIOS that shuts the system down when a certain temperature is reached (don't alter that).

Remedies: Clean the inside of your computer and check that all fans are working. Check that ribbon cables are not impeding the flow of air.
To check the fans, you need to run the machine with the side cover removed - take care when working with electricity.

Thanks for the help Andre- Problem solved-- from Neil
Compressed air clean of fan and re situate the casing to increase air flow.And reorganize the cables.
