username and passw to run ubuntu from cd

Asked by rcast

Hello, I have downloaded Ubuntu 7.1 image, and I've burned it to a CD, I restarted my PC but when running from cd Ubuntu asks me username and password which I have not.
I would like to know how to resolve it, if anybody knows how, please help me with this issue.

thanks

Where exactly does it ask username and password?
If it's in "Who are you?" type the name and passowrd you want to use.
Or try a blank password.

And how does it look like? Any graphic or just text? What does it write? Are you sure the computer is booting from CD? Please give more details.

Try this:
username: ubuntu (in low case)
And a black password.

Not "black" but a blank password I mean :)

If it doesn't help then your cd or download may be defective. Try to slow down the burn speed (4x). Or try another CD-Drive.

Maybe you should try to burn another disc, as annoying as it is.

If there is that kind of problem on your disc, then I'd shudder to think about how many other problems are on the disc.

And as Max Schukin said, try a slower speed.

Also, my own tip, use a good brand of CD, too. Don't get your CDs from the dollar store.

I also forgot, try InfraRecorder at http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net/

The CD Burning utility that comes with my Windows install (with a brand called "Sonic") screws up my Ubuntu discs for some reason. InfraRecorder is what I use on Windows to burn ISO images. Maybe you could try that.

Can you help with this problem?
