how do I get to a terminal to run google earth?

I have downloaded Google Earth and there is an instruction that this is run from a terminal. What is a terminal and how do I get to it?

Press CTRL + ALT + T

That is a terminal.

I have been using Ubuntu because of the protection it offers and never had
