firefox crashes repeatedly in 15.04

Asked by Steve Lathan

Have been using Firefox with Ubuntu for years. In the past two weeks, I get repeated Firefox crashes when more than one page is open. Have to run restore each time. Quite annoying. Can it be fixed or should I dump Firefox for Chrome?

Do you use Thunderbird as your email client?

If you don't then close all browsers and run:

mv ~/.mozilla ~/.mozilla_old

Then rerun the browser. You will get default settings. Is it better?

There is no better or worse, other browsers are only different. No more or less.

Do you use Thunderbird as your email client?

Yes, Thunderbird is the default application.   Only other choice I see is "KMailService".

You could use webmail (in a web browser) as many people do. There is also:

Evolution
Mutt
Clawsmail
Alpine
Geary

And so MANY other clients.....

Again. Do YOU use Thunderbird for email? It's a simple yes or no question.

I use Thunderbird Mail as the default mail application. I use the Firefox browser.  I use Yahoo for sending/receiving emails.  Anything else?

Is it better?

Close all browsers and run:

nautilus ~/.mozilla

In the Window that appears, rename the Firefox folder by clicking it and pressing F2. Rename it to Firefox_old and press ENTER.

Launch the browser.

Did this. Firefox still crashes, but not as frequently.

Can you help with this problem?
