Printer jobs get rendered, then go into pending state
System Ubuntu 14.04
The printer and PC combination have been working well before. Now, when I try to print a document, it gets fully rendered, but then the job gets into permanent pending state. Various attempts at rebooting PC and the printer have not been any use. I would appreciate any help on offer. Thanks.

Thanks for your response.
The printer is Samsung-
The status of the print job is "pending since Tue 03 Mar 2015 16:52:38 GMT; Waiting for printer to become available."
I do not see why it thinks the printer is not available.

Sorry, judging by the list the printer could not have been connected. Trying with the printer on & connected I get:

I thought to try a different USB terminal; it resulted in sucessful printing of the pending job. The listing after the terminal change is:

The printer was installed several years ago, and the driver got installed automatically without my intervention. Of course there have been many ubuntu upgrades since then, and the driver may have been changed as part of that. All I know now is that there are two relevant files installed: /usr/share/
I shall follow the route of looking at the links you have given, and install/re-install the driver, possibly by adding a new printer with the new driver, but keeping the existing printer to begin with. I shall let you know how I got on. It will take a few days, since the printer has now been borrowed for another PC.
Thanks.

I have downloaded the latest driver package, ULD_v1.
The printer still has the same problem: after a successful print job, the next job gets stuck in a permanent state of 'pending'.
I have reported the problem to Samsung, and hope they will be able to help. I will report here again if I get any further.

Using Samsung support site and searching for Linux driver for my printer, I got ULD_v1.
