Problem with Libre Office after downloading update

Asked by wordsmyth2

The latest update to Ubuntu 14.04 caused havoc in my system, resulting in a crash. A re-boot seemed to fix most of the damage, except for the latest LibreOffice: the formatting isn't working properly. Instead of leaving a bottom margin of the customary 2cm, it leaves a HALF PAGE. I have tried and tried correcting this, but the problem remains. The formatting remains as set, but I'm still getting a great lump of spacing at the end of each page. I've tried re-installing, to no avail. Anyone else encountered this problem? Advice?

Try renaming the configuration folder for LibreOffice then start the application. The folder is inside ~/.config

Many thanks AP - but how do I access ~/.config?
Also, I opened the Terminal and this is what I saw - before
    entering anything!

I fear my computer is in one heck of a mess since installing the latest update. To repeat, never had so much trouble as I've had with 14.04 - and I've used Ubuntu since 8.04...... :-( Looks like a re-installation needed ....

Renamed LibreOffice folder as suggested and it now appears to be functioning okay. Previously it seemed to be inserting a New Page without being instructed to do so , when I was only halfway or so down a page ...
