Asked by Steve Dunk

I've just upgraded to TRUSTY , how do I retreive my files and bookmarks from backup. When I click on the icon I get a message telling me that the file is "PGP/MIME" encrypted but I cannot find an app to help me . What am I doing wrong?

Didn't think to test a restore of the data set? Good you have a backup but it's not much use if the data is irretrievable.

How did you make the backup of the data?

Thanks

Hi Andrew, the backup is on a 32Gb sd card. I used the backup facility
provided with 12.04 on a scheduled daily basis. Hope fully it has my
bookmarks and files on it. I kept each backup until room was required
for a new backup. I think the card has 20Gb odd dedicated to backup.
Thanks Steve.

I guess you have used the backup system that came with Ubuntu. It's called Deja Dup.
You can simply type "deja" into the search box of the dash and the backup program will show up.
On the start screen, there is a button to search for backups, click it and the button to choose a folder in the next dialog. Then choose the folder on the SD card you put the backups in.
Now you go through the recovery process as usual.

On word on the bookmarks. If you have already used Firefox, there might be a new, empty profile already. In that case remove the whole ~/.mozilla/firefox folder before recovery.
.mozilla is a hidden folder, you can see hidden files and folders when pressing Ctrl+H in the Nautilus file manager.

Hi Thomas, "deja" worked perfectly. Now I'll have fun moving folders and
files. Once again thanks guys,I knew it had to be the operator and not
the system. Cheers Steve.
