Asus Vivobook no sound
Hello guys,
I am quite new in this area :)
After some hours trying to solve the problem of the sound on Asus Vivobook s400, I decided to ask for some help.
The problem is, I have absolutely no sound. I tryed to follow some troubleshooting, but no luck.
I loooove Ubuntu but it is impossible to me to live withou Skype and just thinking in coming back to windows makes me cry :(
If some good soul can help us (me and my computer) I will appreciate very much.
Kind regards
Gustavo

You have a custom /etc/asound.conf file that is causing problems. Delete it (or rename it), reboot, and if there is still no sound, run the alsa-info program again to show the updated information.
PLEASE just give the link (like this: http://

Your Master channel in alsamixer is muted, hence the MM. Unmute it, do you get sound?

Hello Andrew,
The problem is that I cant unmute. All other channels I can raise and lower, but not this one saying MM.
Plus, there is no mute on the panel control on unity...
I still dont get it.

Gustavo

Hello guys,
I posted this video, that may help.

The 'm' key mutes/unmutes. Also, make sure you have the onboard speakers selected (and not HDMI) in the soud settings if that's what you're trying to use

Thanks Daniel,
No luck at the moment, still no sound, on the speakers, on the phones.... HDMI I even not tested, but have you seen the video? When you click test speakers, does not play anything, it should play...

Try turning off 'IEC958' control.

Try latest module/driver version: https:/
Beyond that, I personally have no more suggestion (except for filing a bug).

Thank you very much, but nothing.
Do you belive if I wipe out the disk and do a fresh installation can maybe fix this bug?

Did the sound work after the initial install? If not, then I don't see a fresh install helping.
At the very least, I would try the LiveUSB/CD and make sure the audio worked there before going through with a pointless reinstall.

All done, USB and a fresh install and none of these idas are working.
I am now downloading the opensuse to see if it is a bug of Ubuntu.
Otherwise I believe that we have a case to open a bug.
This night I will have to come back to the famigerous windows.
Sad sad sad....
