Then I suggest you report a bug. Utopic is NOT stable and not even remotely ready for casual users.

If you want an OS that works then I suggest you reinstall with Trusty which is LTS and supported til April 2019. If you want a half made OS that has feature holes and bugs galore, but want to report bugs to get the release ready for October then by all means use Utopic but it will crash and will cause you issues.

It's called "development branch" for a reason. It doesn't work properly.

What did you expect?

You will have to backup your home folder with your personal data and reinstall from disc.
