Wirelessly Transferring Photos from iPad to Laptop

Asked by Margaret Mackintosh

Hi,

I have been able to wirelessly transferred my photos from a iPad to my Linux Laptop. But, for the last week it keeps saying Access Denied. My laptop is denieing my iPad access. I have entered the correct info on the Remote File but it still will not let me transferr my photos. What can I do to start tranferring my photos again?

If you install openssh-server on the system you can use an SFTP client on the iPad and download and upload securely over wifi. If you port forward port 22 on your router to the system, you can access your data securely from anywhere with an Internet connection.

Hi,

I just installed openssh-server on the laptop. Hate to sound dumb, but what is a SFTP client and how do I get it on the iPad? Told you I am not knowledgeable when it comes to computers.:) Thanks for the answer but still need help.

There will be an application in whatever 'app store' Apple gives you, you can then use the installed application to connect to the IP address of the server. Use the same username and password you log in to Ubuntu with as your credentials.

Hi,

What app am I looking for in the App Store? That was unclear.

Filezilla, Forklift, Transmit should do it.

Hi,

Got FileZilla up. Clicked on download, a streak went across the top of the iPads screen then nothing. Don't know if I have it or not.

Hi again,

Tried to download Filezilla. No luck. Browser on the iPad is Safari. It will not download Filezilla. Tried to install Google Chrome for iPad but it said it is available for Linux and other OS but not the Apple iPad. Have clicked on FTP Uploading with Safari: Apple Support Communities. This is taking forever to come up. So I am stumped again.
