It is not clear if you made the necessary modifications inside the file
/usr/share/
or not....
Try this command to start editing the file:
sudo nano /usr/share/
Use CTRL-W to search in the nano editor and use CTRL-O to save any changes in nano.
You have to search and comment the line in the file lobbyview.py that contains the following expression :
(to comment you need to put the character # at the start of the line)
"self.exhibit_
after commenting that line, just save and close the file, and try to open the software-center.
Do not run
#self.exhibit_
in the Terminal. That configuration line exists in the lobbyview.py file.
Configuration lines are stored in configuration FILES and are NOT commands.
Only commands should be run in the Terminal.
#self.exhibit_

I rebooted and started the software-center. So far it has not crashed. I'm not sure whether it works correctly, though. When I click on 'Installed' it takes forever and no results. But it seems that the other functions work. Thank you!
