Use your backups. You will need to reinstall the OSes.

Why not? Is your data not important to you? What if the drive IDE fails or the motor fails to spin the drive. Where is your data then?

A cheap USB drive costs peanuts and gives data reliability in case of catastrophe. Is your data worth this much, or more? Professional data recovery services are unguaranteed and can cost thousands.

You may be able to boot to Ubuntu live Cd and use foremost. You will need a writable partition of the same or greater size than the drive you have. You will lose the file name and location data but you may recover files. Some may be damaged. If the area on the drive where data was stored has been overwritten by what has happened then the data is GONE and completely irretrievable.

Again, why is there no backup of your data?

Can you help with this problem?
