Ubuntu 13.04 no wireless

Asked by Nelson T

Let me start off by saying I have just switched to Ubuntu, and really don't know what I'm doing.
So, this is a completly wiped MacBook Pro that I've decided to convert to Ubuntu, because I just really don't like the Mac OSX. The internet card works just fine when going through a wired connection, however it just seems impossible to find any wireless connections. I've tried manually adding a connection through "Edit Connections," and still no luck. No wireless networks come up when the computer is roaming, so what am I doing wrong/how can I fix this?

Thanks,
Nelson

There can be many reasons why Wifi does not work

follow the instructions here:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WirelessTroubleshootingProcedure

except at step 3

Use this link instead of the one in the procedure

https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/230358

The link in the procedure would create a new question. The link I have given you will put the results here.

Once we have all the results we should be able to advise further.

Also use a wired connection and get fully updated. Should help.

Your wireless adapter 14e4:432b is currently using the wl driver.

Please connect your PC to the wireless router using a LAN/ethernet cable.

Then copy-paste the following 3 commands into the Terminal to use the
b43 driver instead of the non-working wl driver:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get remove bcmwl-kernel-source

sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer b43-fwcutter

Then REBOOT your PC and retest wireless.

Also make sure that the SSID is not hidden on your wireless router.

I also suggest installing wicd as a replacement for NetworkManager.
