where on the taskbar is the network icon?

I have successfully installed ubuntu onto my hp amd laptop but I am finding it difficult to connect to internet provider and I cant find network icon on the taskbar. Can you help?

Hello John..
Network manager to configure your internet can be found at system -> Administration -> Network

and if you find any problems in configuring the network let us know with any specific errors you are getting so we can help you out..
