Hi John. You can always use 'mkdir' (for directory) or 'touch' (for file) commands to create a new ones doc/folder. If you want to do this on the Desktop, it might look this way:

,-----[ Create file and folder ]
| cd /home/user_name/Desktop
| mkdir folder_name
| touch file_name
`-----

But it probably is not a solution for your problem. In my case, everything works okay. I can create folder and file on the Desktop by clicking mouse right button.

Best regards!

If you put a file in ~/Templates then it will appear in the 'New file' menu. Save blank libreoffices files there too and you can make them too :-)

Very convenient, easier than Windows.

Open libreOffice, hit save and save in the Templates folder in home. Nothing technical.....

You can make a blank file template with:

touch ~/Templates/Blank\ File

Can you help with this problem?
