12.04 freezes error message is: usr/share/apport-gpu-error-intel.py

Asked by Jerry bleiman

After an upgrade 12.04 started freezing and got this error message:

12.04 freezes error message is: usr/share/apport-gpu-error-intel.py

Sometimes the system stays up for a minute or two, other times freezes quickly

Thanks in advance for any help, jerry

Did you upgrade from a previous release or was it just an update to Precise itself?

Thanks for your reply. It was an update to Precise itself.

I reinstalled 12.04 fresh and got the same result...I've sort of given up, haven't a clue to what is happening.

thanks, jerry

Hi,

I have the same problem. Started about two weeks ago. I updated, then used Ubuntu-Tweak's Janitor to clean, from then on it froze. Thought it has to do with the Janitor.

It simply froze, with the same error message.

I re-installed. Update, for a while it was OK. Today I updated again (new Kernel), did not use the Janitor, and had the same problem, immediately after update without error message, simply freezing. What I did now: Started the recovery mode, went through all pssoibliities: dpkg, clean, fsck. Now it seems to work again.... I just do not know anymore how I started the recovery modus -:)

I just re-installed again (from a CD). System worked until I did an update - then it froze again.

Thanks...I think I'll try to install 12.10 and see what happens...

I am not a technically oriented person, so can't really deal with this kind of problem.

I love Ubuntu, but it seems like they are starting to have Microsoft type problems.

I'm going to try another Linux flavor.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help me.

Try:

echo "enabled=0" | sudo tee /etc/default/apport > /dev/null

reboot to test.

Tried, but it didn't work... loaded Fuduntu and it works fine.

Thanks,
jerry

I gave up and loaded Fuduntu. It works fine and I actually like it better...

Typing in any instructions in the terminal did not help.
