Removing windows keeping ubuntu intact

I have both xp and 12.04 LTS. Now I want to remove windows and change partitions but want to keep softwares of ubuntu (i dont want to download them again). What should I do?

That depends on how you installed Ubuntu.

If you used Wubi then backup, reinstall and copy your personal data back.

If you did a proper dual boot from CD/DVD or USB stick, you can just remove Windows as explained here:

In case of wubi which portion should i take backup of?

Boot to Ubuntu

Copy all of the following directories including hidden files to external drive or CD/DVDs

/home
/etc
/var

Install Ubuntu fresh letting it use the entire drive

Copy everything back to your home directory

You may or may not need stuff from /etc and /var do not copy those back yet. If you have problems ask again and we will tell you which specific files you need to copy, if any.

No they will need to be downloaded again. Sorry but with a Wubi install Ubuntu is a virtual file system in windows so if you lose Windows you lose Ubuntu. So your choice is keep Windows or fresh install.

You can however get a list of what you have installed and compare that with what a fresh install has installed.
