Save Screen Shot Message Loops

Asked by Monica

Hi...

A few months ago I installed Ubuntu 6.4 (the one with LTS). After instalation I had problems because I repeatedly received a message asking me to save my screenshot. I finally managed to solve the problem removing the print screen action asociation to the key it had for default.
Today I tried to install Ubuntu 7.10 on the same laptop and got the same problem but it occurred during instalation, forcing me to abort it. I had Dozens of windows at the same time asking me to save my screen shot.

¿Is there anyting I can do to avoid this message?

Thanks for the support.

My laptop is a Compaq (HP) I bought on December 2000 (i can give the exact
model in a few hours when I get home).
I am using gnome.

There's a similar case (also with a HP laptop) on
http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-435278.html and got to the same
solution i got to with the Ubuntu 6.04 (disabled the print screen button for
gnome screenshot).

¿Is there a way to disable the print screen button during the
7.10instalation? I think that could help. ¿Do you think I can expect a
diferent
behavior if i installed Kubuntu rather than Ubuntu?

Thanks

Have you already tried to connect some external ps2 or USB or ps2+"USB adapter" keyboard to your laptop...?

I have no external keyboard available right now... if i can get one, will
the Ubuntu 7.10 installer recognize it? or do i have to configure it on
Ubuntu 6.4 first before booting from cd?

I finally was able to install Ubuntu 7.10. Somehow (after canceling some messageboxes asking me to save the screenshot) I managed to get to the initial page where I disabled the printscreen buttons from the menu (before double clicking the install icon).
AFTER instalation i had to disable this printscreen buttons again to avoid the messageboxes.

Hope this helps someone else with a similar problem.
