Burn MP3 CD using CD/DVD Creator

Asked by Mark

Am having problems burning an MP3 CD using CD/DVD Creator. When I click the Write button, I get a dialog box saying "insert a rewritable or blank disc", even though I have a blank disc in the drive. Can anyone offer some suggestions? Thanks.

Why you don't use gnu program to burn your cd...?

I suggest you the good k3b

Please open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install k3b libk3b2-mp3 libk3b2-mp3

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

After you can find K3b under applications -> Sound and video -> K3b

Thank you

I don't think this application supports MP3 files. When I drag and drop my files, I get a dialog box stating that:-

Unable to handle the following files due to an unsupported format:
You may manually convert these audio files to wave using another application supporting the audio format and then add the wave files to the K3b project.

First try this: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/k3b/+question/6146

Once the package is installed, start up K3b and you're ready to go.
To confirm that the update worked you can select Configure K3b from the Settings menu and then click on Plugins.
Under the AudioDecoder section you should now see a listing for the K3b MAD Decoder.
If it's there you are enabled to drag and drop MP3 files to an Audio CD project.

Hope this help

Hello Mark,
I have been having the same problem. Not being able to write after dragging file (mp3) to the cd/dvd creator and pressing write file. Same error "insert a rewritable or blank disc".
Please how dis you solve it. I have added all the restricted w32codes, and just everything mentioned in this post.
Thanks,
AMG

I am having a similar problem, but I am using Amarok which I like and when I go to burn a CD Date for mp3 music it passes over to K3b which is fine, but the CD doesn't play on any CD/DVD player. It's ok on the computer. I am using a CD rewritable disc.
Any ideas please what I am doing wrong? I am a beginner!!!
