What is your network card?
Do you connect with a username and password (as opposed to ADSL "always-on" connection)?

Could you please run Applications/Accessories/Terminal and type the command below and paste the output here.

ifconfig

if you connect with username and password, you must open a terminal (under Applications/Accessories/Terminal) and type:

sudo pppoeconf

And then press enter, it will ask for the password, enter it, and press enter.
It will then ask things, just keep reading, and if you dont understand just answer the default option (just press enter).

It will ask for the username and password, enter them as in windows.

If all run fine, at the end it will ask if you want your connection to start automatically at boot, that is a good idea, so answer [yes].

Pay attention: If there is an error anytime or something reply with what happened, and which step you were.

Hi ClovisFabricio ....

Exactly the same ......
"sudo pppoeconf" is the command that i got from the answer of the question no 1309...
thank you once again...
But now its not asking for username and password....
im turning on the modem and using net. thats all...

and one doubt ClovisFabricio....
You have said ""as opposed to ADSL "always-on" connection"" in the first reply, So
Is using user name and password is wrong in case of ADSL modem?

pppoeconf asks for password, and saves it, and from this moment on, you don't need to enter password anymore, you just turn on the computer and it is already connected, because pppoe is already configured to run at startup.

Opposed to windows, where you have to double-click a connection icon, and type username/password (or use already typed) every time you turn on your computer before you can use the net.

In ubuntu using pppoeconf you configure it once and use many.

About your doubt, ADSL has two common modes of operation, DHCP and PPPOE. PPPOE mode, you have to enter username and password and tell the modem to connect. In DHCP mode, this is already done by the modem itself and you just receive an IP address directly.
