Ubuntu

icons won't remain in place on panels

Each time I reboot I notice that my icons on the panels, both at the bottom and top of the screen won't stay where I put them. the icons will move over each time I logoff or restart. How can I prevent this from happening?

I suppose you are using Ubuntu (gnome) then try: right click with mouse on icon and check "Lock to Panel"

That was my fault for not being more descriptive. I've never used a
free support system this organized.... anyway..

I meant that even with the panel icons locked and in the position I want
them to be in, when I reboot (yes in gnome) they go wherever they choose
to go.
