Ubuntu

no sound in Ubuntu 7.04

No sound in Ubuntu 7.04.My system is dual-boot with Windows XP.The alsamixer is working and is unmuted.I had tried Mandriva 2007(run with the Live-cd) ,I could hear sound when press the "Test" tab but not in Ubuntu.

I don't claim to understand any of this, but I have a similar setup and computer, with the same problem, it was extremely easily fixed. The record is shown at the following page:

Hi!

It does not solve my problem.I added the suggesred line at the end of the file .It did not work.I then added it following the lin "options snd-usb-ux2y index=-2" which is the last but three line.

Problem solved . I, by mistake ,had plugged the loudspeakers into the wrong jack,but it works for XP but not Ubuntu.
It seems to me Ubuntu is a great Operating system.
