no sound in Ubuntu 7.04

No sound in Ubuntu 7.04.My system is dual-boot with Windows XP.The alsamixer is working and is unmuted.I had tried Mandriva 2007(run with the Live-cd) ,I could hear sound when press the "Test" tab but not in Ubuntu.

Hi!

It does not solve my problem.I added the suggesred line at the end of the file .It did not work.I then added it following the lin "options snd-usb-ux2y index=-2" which is the last but three line.

Problem solved . I, by mistake ,had plugged the loudspeakers into the wrong jack,but it works for XP but not Ubuntu.
It seems to me Ubuntu is a great Operating system.
