JRE Install problems/ wish probelms

Asked by Harry Gatley

Once the Java Runtime Environment installation starts it never finishes. What is wrong? It pops up a window that is named configuring Java which I cannot see around until I press and hold the 'esc' key. I see it is trying to do something but it is really, really slow.

Also I need wish and I cannot seem to get it to work. It installed in the wrong place and when I moved it it still didn't work. I am using program from NASA that needs to find wish but every time I install the program it cannot find wish. It was so much easier in the earlier version of UBUNTU because wish was installed by default. What can I do? Should I try to go back to the earlier UBUNTU version? The earlier version was installed on a 32 bit machine the 10.10 version I am using is on a 64 bit machine.

I tried a different download and it worked the problem as the acceptance
statement for the licesnes was not accessible with the version I tried, so I
self extracted jre-6u12-linux-x64.bin, which worked without a hitch.

Thanks
