use ubuntu as ntp server

It sounds like you are already fairly set up, what aspects of it do you
need advice with exactly? Are your w2000 boxes able to sync time with
the ubuntu server correctly?

I want to know how to make the Ubuntu box broadcast the time signal onto the Windows LAN (subnet) and how to set everything up so that the Windows domain see the Ubuntu time server.

Our LAN uses the addressing convention 192.168.0.1 - 192.168.0.210 via a mixture of static and Dynamic IP’s.

I don't want to mess up the windows domain at all I just want everything (including the windows Domain Controller) to sync to the Ubuntu box.

I know that everything in the domain should sync to the DC by default so all I want to do really is provide a timeserver on our LAN for the DC to use.

NTP is a complex subject and requires a lot of reading, for me to help you set it up I would have to learn a lot more about it than I care to do :) There is an excellent gentoo doc on setting up a server here:

You also have the option of using Samba to serve the time to the windows clients and this is a lot more simple to set up:

Personally, I think this is the easiest option for you.

Windows domain controllers provide this functionality automatically. In fact, the time service on workstations should automatically configure this way during the joining of the domain. As long as your DNS is configured properly and the servers are receiving good time information from somewhere, your clients will automatically have the correct time.
