request to add a software

Asked by rainmaker

There is a freeware called epidata from Denmark, its a big help to social researchers will you help them develop it for Ubuntu they are already on to getting it on to Linux. Any other software is way too complicated to learn or more expensive. Actually it would be a big help if we had a substitute to SPSS. Most money has to go just for analysis of data.

Ubuntu isn't in the bussiness of porting software from windows to linux, we have our hands full with maintaining the thousands of pieces of software already in the repositorys :) you should try running said software with wine

By "freeware" I assume you mean free to have, not free. Looking at the
site very quickly it doesn't seem to be open source. Usually we sort of
take issue with that as if we get support requests we can't do a ton for
them. Assuming the licensing isn't horrible and restrictive though, it's
a possibility.

Answered quite well Lord Allot, I think! Comes with going in for
handouts I suppose. Don't think my XP is so bad after all! Websites
look more friendly on Fierfox as the fonts are lean and sharp and I need
not tinker with the font size and my music players have stop buttons.
Nice games for the kids I must say. The problem is to uninstall I need
format both my hard disks, apparently. The 'GRUB' error whatever that
is does not go off.

If you need a substitute for SPSS, try R. Though it's quite user unfriendly, and has a very steep learning curve, in essence it's much better than SPSS, since once you master R, you really master statistics. And python. :-)
