64Bit Where is my memory?

Asked by Roy Cooper

I have an asrock g31-gs r2.0 motherboard with an intel core 2 duo 3.0Ghz Processor. 4 Gig of ram of which only 3.1 is showing.
I have downloaded and installed 10.10 Maverick AMD64 and can still only see 3.1
Help please? I am new to Ubuntu and Linux in general but I use the computer for audio applications, so could really use the missing 1 Gig.

Thanks

Roy

Linux Bastard 2.6.35-22-generic #35-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 20:45:36 UTC
2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 3206 717 2488 0 31 271
-/+ buffers/cache: 414 2791
Swap: 6234 0 6234

Bios shows 4 gig and theres also an option for memory flexibility which
is enabled, but was the same when it was disabled.

Many thanks

Ok, is your video chip onboard or is it on a separate card?

Your OS is 64bit and so can access 4 petabytes of RAM

Many thanks actionparsnip

The bios needed memory remap enabling.
Now shows 3.9gig which as we say in Yorkshire is good enough for agriculture.
Once again cheers
