I don't think you can use Wine. I'm not sure as protocol uses USB and Wine can use USB.
A desperate solution should be to install a virtual machine with Windows inside, install scanner in it and having a remote access like a printer with Samba.

The answer is lots including Xsane. But when i run it it doesn't detect my scanner. I have ascertained that gt68xx backend is good for my scanner but don't really understand how to install it and how to get my scanner detected. Any suggestions

Could you check if you have in Synaptic something which looks like gt68xx-backend ?
The data I found are old, and I don't know which is current status.
Can you run command
scanimage -L

Unfortunately, anyone subscribed xsane and simple-sane packages in this forum.
So I will have to follow your issue.
I simply found that this scanner works with xsane since 2005.
Please install xsane software and check if it works.
You could post also your question in:

The second item is my Genius Scanner which works fine with Xsane etc.
