no login... Ubuntu 10.04 changing simple-greeter

Asked by Anthony Hual

Hello,

I am fairly new to linux. I have 10.04 and I was trying to change what the simple-greeter file looked like when I logged in with a theme I had downloaded. I overwrote the old simple-greeter file with the new one and then logged off and I never got a login box. The login screen appears but no box to log in at.

TRy pressing Ctrl-Alt-F1. This should get you to a terminal session. Login here and fix/undo the changes to the simple-greeter file. With Ctrl-Alt-F7 you should get back to the graphical login screen.

Worst case reboot between.

How do I undo the changes? I deleted the original greeter file and replaced
it with the new one
