pages loading slow

I downloaded Ubuntu on my laptop without a problem ..I am also running windows vista as a dual boot...I love ubuntu but it's running very slow...I have DSL wireless connection and it had no problem connecting and it shows a good connection ..the speed sucks....any suggestions...windows is running fine as far as speed goes....

as a matter of fact it's just web browsing the updates seem to be relatively fast..

Yeah I thought so. The defaults in Firefox are god awful (Mind you firefox itself is a pisspoor excuse for a browser but I digress). You can use this guide:

I also suggest you install and configure your OS to use dnsmasq so DNS lookups are faster

LOL..O.K. I'll see what I can do..Is there another browser I can use besides firefox..I'm open for suggestions...

I used the guide to make firefox faster but it didn't help much..So I went and downloaded chromium and it's unbelievably fast....Thank you for all your help....I really appreciate it....

mine is 3.6.12 pre may be some day i will learn to proof read .

I am using firefox 3.6.10...I really like firefox but it's running so
slow...I did D/L chromium and it's faster...and suggestions???

I was trying epiphany browser and at first it was fine then it kept crashing...lol..I was checking juno mail when it happened....???
.i like chromium but i kind of am addicted to the tool bar at the top of the page so i thought i would check out something different...
