If I upgrade to the 10.04 version, do I risk losing any documents/files or programs/applications already on my computer?

If I upgrade to the 10.04 version, do I risk losing any documents/files or programs/applications already saved or installed on my computer?

The upgrade will only upgrade the applications which make up the OS. You SHOULD have a backup of your data if it is important, then you have nothing to worry about with upgrades or if the drive suddenly decides to fail
