I recently downloaded the Ubuntu 10.04 live cd to my desk top and installed correctly and it booted to the start menu, let me sign but when I go to Firefox to get on the internet for example it freezes. Any ideas why and how to fix it?

Asked by Dorothy Gonzales

Like I said in my summary, I installed the 10.04 and it freezes within seconds when I want to get onto Firefox or any other areas like apps, I reinstalled the 9.04 and my desktop works fine. Does anyone else have this problem and how can I fix it if I reinstall the 10.04

Did you check for errors?
How much RAM do you have.
It's best to have at least 512.
Did you go in and reboot order?
If you did not that will bog it down
some. If you log in and just sit
and let the PC let you know of
updates and see how that works.
Your PC will notice and let you
know and if that is the factor
then you are running to much
at a time.

Try login and just let the PC let
you know and then click on the
icon. Even a small system will
have 300 or so update to do.

When you go sign in on the bottom you will see a tab that says gnome, do the failsafe gnome then you can get the updates, and surf the web

Wait Maverick 10.10 which should arrive Sunday, and before installing, choose "Try without install" and check Firefox.

Can you help with this problem?
