should I install 10.10 beta or wait for final?

Asked by larry

Will the final ver. of 10.10 be that different, or should I just install the 10.10 beta and then get any necessary changes/ updates?

Thanks.

If you install Maverick you will upgrade seamlessly to the RC. If you don't mind buggy software with feature holes and want to log bugs to help the project then use Maverick. if you want a stable OS that will work then use Lucid. Lucid is also LTS so will be supported for a LOT longer than Maverick

if i understand correctly, the beta is feature frozen already so that means new things aren't going to come up. Should be bug fixes from now on, unless something really controversial/disliked appears (e.g. the wallpaper which was changed)

so shouldn't be any harm in getting it now and then updating. . .

If you want, sure. I personally wait for a few weeks after release but if you want Maverick then go for it. I wouldn't rate a release no its default wallpaper as this can easily be changed.

Yes there'll be no new feature releases, but this doesn't mean there aren't bugs. If you're running beta you should be prepared for a complete loss of data. By running beta you are in fact doing beta testing. So if you consider your machine a test computer, by all means. Otherwise, I'd advise to not use it until it is released or even later as actionparsnip advised.
