cannot find UBUNTU 10.4 on C drive

Asked by peter bishop

Could you help please I have Emachines D620 Windows 7 and 3 GB of RAM
Have downloaded UBUNTU Netbook from http://www.ubuntu.com/netbook/get-ubuntu/download to a
DT Mini Slim 4 GB USB.
Then followed instructions to install UBUNTU Netbook alongside Windows 7, everything appeared to go well but after restart I now cannot find UBUNTU on the C drive.
I am not an expert on PC by any means.

Which instructions did you follow? Did you install through Windows using Wubi, or did you boot from the USB and install Ubuntu on a separate partition?

In either case, you choose Ubuntu from the boot menu.

If you used Wubi, see:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WubiGuide#How%20do%20I%20select%20whether%20to%20run%20Windows%20or%20Ubuntu?

If you did a proper installation, shortly after turning on your computer you should see a screen like this:
http://www.sevenforums.com/attachments/installation-setup/62987-installed-ubuntu-9-10-after-windows-7-cant-boot-grub_fix_06.png

Use the arrows to highlight Ubuntu (the ordinary one, not recovery mode) and press Enter to boot into Ubuntu.

Try holding down Shift while the computer starts in order to force the GRUB menu to appear.

I am sorry Marco I thought I had sent the result. In the mean time I followed the install procedure again and I now have Ubuntu up
and running. I would like to thank you all for your help.
