Hi,

according to this page https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/SystemRequirements it is possible to install Ubuntu on a system with 128MB RAM. I did it myself, but it was no pleasant experience using that system.

If you want to use that machine you should install Xubuntu (http://www.xubuntu.org/), a version of Ubuntu designed for such machines.

Best regards,
Flavius

Try Xubuntu, I have an compaq armada 1750 PII with 128 mb ram.
It works fine. I downloaded the alternative cd.
I just need to find out the how to configure sound-card.

You don't have to order xubuntu, if you can download it yourself, by a friend or in an internet cafe.
