Installing Ubuntu 10.04.1 in vmware workstation

Asked by Brubaker

Hi I am trying to install Ubuntu 10.04.1 in vmware workstation I get to the boot screen and have tried both Install Ubuntu and Try without install options but do not get the GUI or any options to add an account, location details etc as would expect from install instructions.

All I get is a black screen saying welcome to Ubuntu!
ubuntu@ubuntu:

if i do sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop says already installed.

Am using ubuntu-10.04.1-desktop-i386.iso that downloaded today

Did you MD5 test the ISO you are booting to?

The liveCD already has an account which you are free to use and it is passwordless. You will only need to set a password if you install the OS to a virtual disk drive.
