How to install ubuntu 7.0.4 from CD ?

Asked by bxgu

Today, I got my new dell inspiron 1420N with ubuntu CD 7.0.4. I tried to install ubuntu 7.0.4 from the CD into my laptop but I failed. The error message is "/bin/sh:can't access tty:job control turned off". I do not know how to fix it? How to install ubuntu into my laptop using the ubuntu CD given by dell? Thank you.

From what I can tell, you shouldn't need to install Ubuntu, it should already be installed and boot straight to first-run configuration. Have you already wiped the installed partition, or did you not get that far on the install CD?

Can you help with this problem?
