Can you please tell us where does actually Ubuntu installation fail?

And have you checked your hard drive for errors, or bad sectors maybe?

Do you already have some other OS installed on your PC?

What PC are you trying to install Ubuntu on (motherboard, HDD, CPU, graphics..)?

Please give some more information:-)

Hello Mario,

Thank you for your promt reply. Thinkpad T41. no hardware problems. I cant
tell where it fails. there is just the background screen and an
error"unrecoverable error a desktop will open now for you to investigate
further" desktop then opens fine (ram version i assume). after myltiple
failed install attempts I loaded windows xp and tossed ubuntu aside. After
some searching I found a thread that suggested this is a very common error
with 10.04 lts and a user found that if he installed from the ram destop he
had success. I tried that and had it fail twice. On the 3rd attemp it
installed. Working fine at this point. Definately a bug in there
somewhere.

thanks,
Paul
