Installing Ubuntu and keeping WinXp

Asked by megamegh

Hi, I have Windows Xp running on my machine with one primary partition. I want to install Ubuntu and keep XP so that i can dualboot. I have Partition Magic 8.0 and i was wondering if anyone can please give me a step by step process of partitioning my drive with this program to use Ubuntu. I'm very noobish in this field. Thank You!

If you will be installing from the Desktop / Live CD it can repartition your hard drive for you and set up all the necessay things to be able to boot Windows or Linux,

Back up your data first!

Oops! Ubuntu comes with a partitioner. It should give you the option to resize your windows partition in the setup,

Yup..
It's a little risky though. I suggest backing up your most important data.
(I've personally never seen it fail)

And remember to backup your WinXP partition.
