No wireless connection on my laptop in Lucid

Asked by pinfanti

Just loaded Lucid Lynx on my toshiba satellite A15-157 laptop. Everything works great except the wireless. I am seeing the SSID from my router, but cannot connect. Everything says that networking is enabled and wireless is enabled, but no luck connecting. I looked at the help files and forums and did a scan via the terminal and this is the readout:

paul@paul-laptop:~$ sudo lshw -C network; sudo iwlist scanning; cat /etc/network/interfaces; cat /etc/lsb-release; lspci -nn; lsusb; sudo lshw -short; uname -a; dmesg | grep ound; dmesg | grep ath; dmesg | grep wl; dmesg | grep b43; dmesg | grep witch; iwconfig; grep b43 /etc/modprobe.d/*; grep wl /etc/modprobe.d/*; sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

What's the output of dmesg | grep eth? Does it by chance include "eth2: Lucent/Agere firmware doesn't support manual roaming"? If so, then this bug may be https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/498336.

Dave, thanks for the comment. This is my first install of ubuntu so I am
not familiar with the OS and its associated issues. I am not sure why an
upgrade to the system such as 9.10 to 10.04 would cause a problem like
this. I was hoping I was missing something in the setup rather than
uncovering a bug.
