2.6.32.21 generic doesnt load

Have just updated to 10.04, on a dell inspiron 1501, 2.6.32-21-generic just stops with coloured vertical lines on the screen.
2.6.31-20-generic loads ok. Any ideas. Sorry but not technically knowledgeable in Linux.

Log a bug. Do you have any other kernels you can boot to which give a working system?

I've got exactly the same problem. I've a inspirion 510m and used Ubuntu since 8.04. For me also 10.04 doesn't load ith 2.6.32-21-generic but does load with the other kernels. Briefly I see the 10.04 progress loading bar and then a black screen shows up and the HD activity stops.

Strangely, if i leave the machine (without touching) until it times out with inactivity, then when i press a button it prompts for password and then all seems hunky dory

Then its most likely a bug.
