stuck at login screen

I changed some theme in ubuntu 9.10 and switched user. Now i am stuck at login screen. Neither mouse nor keyboard is working.
Rebooted several times.

try turning of the power or unplug the computerif needed . then try starting your system again. does the same thing occur?

To me it is not entirely clear if keyboard/mouse do not work at the login screen or after you logged in. If it is after login try this:

- Choose your name.
- There should be "Gnome" visible somewhere on the bottom. With the arrow next to it you can change it to "Failsafe Gnome".
- Enter your password to log in.

Does that work? Or is the problem already present when the login screen appears?

hey still here try using these keys i played around with it may help

in combination ctrl & f1 and ctrl &esc and also shift & a after that the first should allow you to get to your prefered login and the to the password if im remebering properly also the arrow keys on your keyboard after using those to navigate if i can find anything else ill let you know
