vista and ubuntu
Asked by

hi,
I have a hp laptop which has the OEM version of windows vista premium. I am going to use linux ubuntu for the first time [i am a beginner :)]. I have the cd with me for ubuntu. I would like to know the steps of how to create a dual boot for windows vista (without deleting the recovery partition, which is given to me by Hp) and ubuntu. I tried to run ubuntu using the cd and I tried going online but i was unsuccessful. My isp has given me a static ip address and all the details. I entered them all but still it would not go online using ubuntu. If there is any other settings that i need to check please do let me know. Any help will be really appreciated. Thanks.
