Can I partition my computer that runs WinVista and run Ubuntu

Asked by Linda

I have a Dell that runs Windows Vista. I've always hated Windows and want to get away from it. I'd like the opportunity to run Ubuntu and get to know it. Is it possible to partition my Windows Vista harddrive and run Ubuntu? Or is Vista too knew and would this cause real problems?

Thank you,
Linda

The Ubuntu install CD should allow you to resize your existing windows vista partition and use the space freed up to install ubuntu. I dont have vista so I haven't done this myself but I don't see why it wouldn't work as normal.

I can confirm Bah Humbug, if you follow any of the various dual-boot guides for Ubuntu and Windows, you will be able to successfully run Vista and Ubuntu alongside each other. I know of several people who have done this and have had no problems so far.
