Installed Ubuntu 9.10 on a USB Drive. Windows XP does not boot anymore

I installed Ubuntu 9.10 on a USB Drive. Windows XP is already installed on my computer.
The problem is that I cannot boot Windows XP anymore

grub LOADING ......
ERROR NO SUCH DISK
GRUB RESCUE
>

Can you please suggest the following:

1. How to boot Windows XP. I do not have the original XP Installation CD?
2. How do i uninstall Ubuntu 9.10 to get back to boot to XP

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Try to boot your computer with the Ubuntu 9.10 USB inserted. It is very likely that you installed the GRUB menu on the local hard disk instead on the USB MBR when installing Ubuntu 9.10 to your USB drive. Thus when booting the computer without the Ubuntu USB inserted (and recognized) it will give a Grub error.

If all goes well, the Grub menu will show you the choice of booting to Windows XP.

get any xo installation cd and do not go for installation just repair your old xp ...fixmbr will fix your xp booting problem
