No puedo hacer una imagen de ubuntu 910

Antes de continuar con la instalación del Openoffice deseo hacer una imagen de Ubuntu 910 como protección a los errores que pueda cometer.
Partimage no puede hacerlo y responde: Can´t read bitmapblock 0 from image.
¿qué puedo hacer?

A lo mejor te sirve Déjà Dup (deja-dup) lo puedes encontrar en el centro del software de Ubuntu o en el gestor de paquetes synapic y es muy fácil de usar. Sirve para hacer respaldos pero no hace imágenes o eso creo.

Luego de hacer la imagen comprobé que se podía reinstalar.
Esto me permitió trabajar tranquilo al quitar y agregar programas: en este
caso el OpenOffice.org.
