Hi :)

yes, that was a abetter way to achieve what you wanted. This guide helps get into the Recovery Mode
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RecoveryMode

But a LiveCd session would probably have been the easiest way
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD

Nicely done and congrats :)

Thanks Tom !
It is very useful for me.
The first way I have tried but failed since I always get a blinking screen after I hitting ESC.
Maybe I need a installation CD to try the issue.
Thanks very much for the detail info.

Hi :)

Download from
http://www.ubuntulinux.org/
and this guide helps make a bootable cd (rather than a data cd)
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto
This can all be done on a Windows or Mac machine but the tools are probably better in Ubuntu or other linux.

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Hi :)

If you are both sharing a single Cd then it might be worth ordering a few official Cds from Shipit. They take a long time to arrive but they are free and 1 might make an excellent gift for your co-worker.

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
