how to make a net connection icon in ubuntu 9.10.like in window xp

i just install ubuntu 9.10.i have a Bsnl broad band connection.my internet connection wok fine.but to disconnect the internet,i need run the command in terminal.so i want to make a icon in my desktop to connect & disconnect internet.. like in windows...
can any one tell me how i do this,.,.plz provide the source

One question Sir, why do you have to type in a command, it should be
automatic, but anyways, you right click on your panel, then add to
panel -> Custom Application Launcher -> Name it and then in the
command field type in the command, if you have to use sudo then do
gksudo command_here.
