Startupmanager gives inconsistent error messages

Asked by MillenniumBug

Hi, I opened this bug against Startupmanager

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/startupmanager/+bug/517339

and I would like to hear other people's opinions. Is it only me finding the logic strange?

Please let me know if anything is not clear.

If you opened a bug - which looks appropriate - then all conversations should take place there. It just helps keep all conversations about the issue in one place.

Yes, I agree. Everything of value regarding the bug itself should go there - I will keep the stupid questions here :-)

I am a beginner in this play. What is the next step after reporting a bug? Is there anything more I can do?

There has not been any response in almost two weeks; does it mean that people can not confirm the bug on their systems, or do people just find it to minor for caring?

On the list
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/startupmanager
one sees a lot of 'new' and 'undecided' bugs for Startupmanager. Does this indicate that in general there is not much attention on Startupmanager?

New means that it is a new bug and hasn't been triaged yet. Undecided
means that it has not been given a priority in the bug queue. Some bugs
can stay in the New state for a very long time depending on popularity
and others will receive immediate attention. It all depends on so many
things.

The bug you reported is something I couldn't reproduce on my system. If
other people can reproduce the error then they should state that on the
bug and change it to confirmed.

The priority (when set) will likely be low because the package has a
smaller audience and will not break your system.

This might explain it better: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/HowToTriage
